Flat Facts Review Guidelines

1. Reviews Must Reflect True Personal Experience

Users may only review properties where they have lived as a current or former tenant. This ensures that the feedback is grounded in real interactions with the landlord, property, or management team. False or second-hand reviews are not allowed.

2. Be Specific and Provide Relevant Details

Reviews should focus on actual conditions, events, or interactions that affected your rental experience. Clear examples—such as maintenance response times or noise issues—help future tenants make informed decisions. Vague or generic statements may be flagged for clarification.

3. Keep Language Respectful and Professional

Flat Facts encourages honest feedback, but not harassment, insults, or discriminatory language. Users should address issues in a constructive manner focused on actions and experiences, not personal attacks. Reviews containing abusive language will be removed.

4. Avoid Sharing Personal Information

Do not include your own or anyone else’s private information such as full names, phone numbers, emails, or financial details. Reviews should protect all parties while still communicating meaningful feedback. Any personal information included will be redacted or may lead to removal.

5. Focus on Issues Relevant to Renting

Reviews should address aspects such as property condition, landlord communication, deposit return, maintenance quality, safety, and lease terms. Irrelevant topics—like the landlord’s personal life or unrelated opinions—should not be included. This keeps Flat Facts focused on transparency and accountability in renting.

6. Provide Accurate Information to the Best of Your Knowledge

Users should avoid exaggeration or misleading claims. If you’re unsure of a detail, describe it clearly without presenting it as fact. Accuracy helps maintain trust and prevents misinformation.

7. No Duplicate or Repetitive Reviews

Each tenant may submit one primary review per rental period. Updates are allowed if your situation changes, but repeated posts with the same content are not permitted. This keeps the platform fair and prevents score manipulation.

8. Photos Must Be Honest and Relevant

If you choose to upload images, they must accurately represent the property or issue you’re reviewing. Manipulated or unrelated photos are not allowed. Any visual evidence should protect personal privacy and comply with the same respect standards as written text.

9. Avoid Mentioning Ongoing Legal Disputes

Users should not disclose details of active legal cases, eviction processes, or private negotiations. These situations should be summarized neutrally without violating confidentiality. This protects both tenants and landlords from legal complications.

10. Reviews Must Follow Flat Facts’ Verification Policies

Users are encouraged to verify their tenancy to earn a Verified Tenant badge. Verified reviews carry more weight and contribute to a more transparent platform. Failure to complete verification may result in the review being marked as unverified or reviewed for authenticity.
